The Latin American Computing Conference (CLEI 2026) invites the academic and professional community to submit original papers reporting theoretical and/or practical results that advance the state of the art in Computer Science and Informatics, or that present relevant applications for industry and society. CLEI 2026 will take place in Mexico City, Mexico, from September 7 to 11, 2026.

As is tradition, CLEI will be held jointly with other relevant events in the region (details will be announced soon).

Important Dates:

  • Abstract submission (mandatory): April 19, 2026
  • Full paper submission: March 29, 2026 April 26, 2026
  • Notification of acceptance: May 17, 2026 May 24, 2026
  • Camera-ready submission: June 21, 2026

Important note: Abstract registration before April 19 is strictly mandatory. Full paper submissions without a previously registered abstract in the system will not be accepted.

The articles should be submitted in PDF format, adhering to the IEEE template available at:
IEEE Conference Templates. The presentations of accepted papers will take place during the thematic sessions of the conference. The best papers will be invited to submit an extended version to indexed journals associated with the event.

Tracks and Topics:

Software Systems – Focused on the principles, methods, and technologies for the engineering, analysis, and evolution of software systems, including (but not limited to) software engineering, software analysis and testing, quality assurance, maintenance and evolution, mining and analysis of software repositories, human and socio-technical aspects of software development, and computing theory. This track also covers both Generative Artificial Intelligence for Software Engineering (e.g., AI-assisted programming, code generation, testing, and maintenance) and Software Engineering for Artificial Intelligence-based Systems (e.g., the engineering, validation, deployment, and governance of AI- and data-driven systems).

Submission Formats:

Full Papers: Self-contained works with a maximum length of 10 pages.

Work-in-Progress Papers: Ongoing work, with a maximum length of 4 pages.

“Journal First” Papers: Papers published between 2024 and 2026 in an indexed journal, on topics relevant to CLEI 2026.

Papers must be written in Spanish, Portuguese, or English.

Submission Guidelines

Language: Papers must be written in Spanish, Portuguese, or English.

Submission: Papers must be submitted via EasyChair, indicating the track to which they are being submitted.

Format: (1) Full papers and papers in progress must (i) use the IEEE conference format, and (ii) include the title, abstract, and index terms in English, regardless of the language of the rest of the article; (2) First-in-a-Journal articles must include a single page indicating (i) DOI, (ii) journal where the article was published, and (iii) impact factor and quartile; (3) All papers must be submitted in PDF format.

Integrity: Authors of full papers and papers in progress must agree to the CLEI Author Code of Conduct. In particular, these articles must not have been published or be under review at any other conference or publication, national or international. However, they may be published as a preprint in an open repository. The inclusion of text generated by large-scale language models (LLMs) is expressly prohibited, unless it is part of the experimental material of the reported work.

Review

Each article will be reviewed anonymously (single-blind review) by at least three members of the Scientific Committee, in accordance with the CLEI Reviewers’ Code of Conduct.

Article Presentation

Accepted articles will be presented in thematic sessions. Presentations of full papers will last 20 minutes, followed by a question-and-answer period. For articles in progress, the oral presentation will last 10 minutes.

Publication and Indexing

The Proceedings of CLEI 2026 will be published by IEEE (including full and works in progress) and will appear in the IEEE Xplore Digital Library (https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/). These proceedings are indexed in Scopus.

Requirements for Publication in the Conference Proceedings:

  • Complete and Work-in-Progress Papers: To ensure publication in the Conference Proceedings, each accepted paper must: (1) have at least one author registered as a conference author; (2) be presented in person at the conference; (3) adhere to the suggested format and maximum page limit; and (4) incorporate the reviewers’ recommendations for improvement.
  • First in Journal” Papers: These papers will be included in the conference program and cited in the chair’s abstract. However, they will not be included in the proceedings, respecting the copyright policies of the journal in which they were published.

Awards for Best Papers and Subsequent Publication

Best Paper: The Program Committee will select one paper from each track as the Distinguished Paper (Best Paper).

Extended Versions: The Program Committee will recommend several papers for publication in one of the journals associated with the event. In that case, authors must submit an improved and extended version (in English), which will undergo a new peer-review process specific to the journal.

Latin American Master’s Thesis Competition (CLTM)Submitted theses must have been defended between April 1, 2025 and March 31, 2026 (strict period), be approved at the time of submission, and have been conducted at CLEI member institutions. The three best theses will be awarded, based on the evaluation by the program committee and the CLTM chairs. Thesis work is individual and, therefore, does not admit co-authorship. Congress of Latin American Women in Computing (LAWCC)The main objective of LAWCC is to highlight the research, interests, and achievements of women in various computing fields, with the intention of encouraging more women’s active participation in the technology sector. The presented papers aim to showcase the challenges that women face in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), ICT (Information and Communication Technologies), teaching, and in the labor and research fields. Papers should address recurring gender-related issues and their interaction with society in this context.

Latin American Workshop on Quantum Software Engineering (TLISC)As quantum computing evolves and becomes applicable, the need for systematic, disciplined, and quantifiable approaches to the development, operation, and maintenance of quantum software (and the classical software it integrates with) grows. Much of what we have learned from decades of research, innovation, and development in Software Engineering is applicable to this new quantum-classical hybrid reality. However, this new context presents questions, challenges, and opportunities; identifying, characterizing, and addressing them is the focus of Quantum Software Engineering. This workshop aims to be a discussion forum, with special interest in mobilizing the Latin American community, on how to produce quantum software considering the lessons learned from classical software engineering, showcasing novel approaches.

Latin American School of Informatics (ELI) – The Latin American School of Informatics provides courses of interest to undergraduate, graduate students, and professionals using hybrid platforms. The course proposal process within ELI is similar to paper submission at the conference, meaning they are evaluated by an academic committee that will select a set of courses for the 2026 edition. ELI’s planned topics cover all areas of computer science and engineering.

Latin American Networking Conference (LANC)-The 2026 Latin American Networking Conference provides an international technical forum for experts from industry and academia around the world, with a particular focus on Latin American countries, to exchange ideas and present results of ongoing research in networking.
