The Latin American Center for Informatics Studies currently brings together universities, research centers and professional associations, becoming the main point of contact in Latin America between numerous university professors, researchers, trade union leaders and professionals, facilitating the promotion and development of informatics in the region.
Objectives
- Creation of instances of educational and scientific cooperation in Informatics for Latin America.
- Strengthening of cultural and technological exchange in Informatics.
- Integration of a Latin American front in the area, serving as a regional reference.
- Promote the creation of own technologies that adequately meet regional needs.
- Raise the quality of higher education in Informatics.
- Promote the scientific development of computer science in Latin America.
Activities
CLEI’s main activity is the organization, since 1974, of its traditional Latin American Conference on Informatics in itinerant form, among its member countries, with the following characteristics:
- High number of attendees.
- Between 300 and 450 research papers submitted for evaluation.
- International program committee, with researchers from more than a dozen countries.
- More than 100 research papers published annually.
- Best papers invited to the CLEI Electronic Journal.
