David A. Padua receives ACM-IEEE CS Ken Kennedy Award
ACM and the IEEE Computer Society (IEEE CS) have named David A. Padua, Donald Biggar Willett Professor Emeritus of Engineering at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, winner of the ACM-IEEE CS Ken Kennedy 2024 Award. The Ken Kennedy Award recognizes pioneering achievements in parallel and high-performance computing. At CLEI he has been a Guest Lecturer, Chair of the Latin American Symposium on Infrastructure, Hardware and Software, and Editor of the CLEI Electronic Journal.

Ricardo Baeza Yates, a leading scholar in artificial intelligence, has been awarded this year’s National Prize for Applied Sciences and Technology. Recognized for his trajectory in Data Science and Director of Research at the Experiential AI Institute, he was praised for his work in data ethics and AI. In addition, he was twice president of the Chilean Society of Computer Science, president of the Latin American Computer Studies Center (CLEI) and International Coordinator of the Ibero-American Program for Cooperation in Science and Technology (CYTED).
