The new editions of the Latin American Master Thesis Competition (CLTM) and the Latin American Doctoral Thesis Competition (CLTD) will take place as part of the Latin American Computer Conference (CLEI 2024) next August 12-16, 2024 in Bahía Blanca (Argentina).

The objective of both competitions is to identify and promote the best regional theses in Informatics, Computing, or other related areas, from an Iberoamerican university member of CLEI, in one of the disciplinary areas defined in the computing curriculum established by the IEEE/ACM.

The deadline for receipt of papers is May 17, 2024 (non-extendable deadline).

Participation is open to individuals who meet all the requirements to obtain a master’s or doctoral degree within the period between April 1, 2023 and March 31, 2024, in a master’s or doctoral program at a Latin American or Caribbean university that is a member of CLEI. The work submitted must be individual (not in groups). Applicants must have completed their entire curriculum, including the defense of the thesis before an examining board.

To participate in the competition, each applicant must submit an abstract of his or her thesis in which only he or she appears as the author.

The evaluation committees will choose three finalist theses for the CLTM award and three for CLTD. The prizes will consist of a CLEI diploma indicating the place obtained in the competition and will be awarded to the winners in person, after a 30-minute presentation in person at the awards session during the L Latin American Computer Conference (CLEI 2024). Failure to make an oral presentation will not entitle the winner to the corresponding prize or to publication in the proceedings of the Latin American Conference on Informatics.

The finalists of both competitions will receive financial support to cover their travel expenses (airfare and lodging), up to US$ 900. This support will be delivered in cash at the conference or by bank transfer after the conference. Finalists must submit proof of expenses, and actual expenses will be covered up to the maximum amount stated.
